Major parties responsible for deadlock: Thapa

KATHMANDU, FEB 21 - Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa has said that the four major political parties—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM)—are to blame for the present prolonged political deadlock.

Thapa accused the major political parties' hunger for power as the reason behind the country's protracted deadlock.

Speaking at a news conference organized by the Reporters' Club in the Capital on Thursday, RPP-N Chairman Thapa said that the possibility of a Chief Justice-led election government seems unlikely due to political stubbornness of the four political forces.

Thapa also said that relevance of both the 12-point agreement signed in December 2005 and the Interim Constitution of Nepal-2063 B.S had ended.

Saying that the RPP-N never fears to face the election s, Thapa said that only the government under the leadership of the Chief Justice could hold the free and fair election s.

He also made it clear that Rastriya Janashakti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party would not unite in the CA election s.

Thapa also said conspiracies were being hatched to foil the CJ-led election government.
