Govt to forward budget to prez on Monday
KATHMANDU, NOV 10 -
The government has decided to forward the full-fledged budget to the president for endorsement on Monday even if the opposition parties do not come to consensus for the same.
PM's political advisor Devendra Poudel informed that a meeting of the coalition partners convened at prime minister's residence in Baluwatar on Saturday evening decided to intensify talks with the opposition parties on budget for the next two days. "We will initiate for consensus for the next two days with the parties on budget ," said Poudel. "If no consensus is forged, the government will forward the budget to the president for endorsement ," he added.
Earlier, 19 political parties had submitted a memorandum to the president urging the head of state not to endorse the budget without political consensus . The oppositions have also announced protest programmes against the government today.
The coalition partners have been claiming that bringing a full-fledged budget was compulsory to avert the country from sinking into economic mire. The opposition parties, however, have claimed that the government has no moral right to bring full budget .
